Hawaii’s Tourism Industry Facing Tough Times For The Foreseeable Future

Hawaii’s tourism industry still face tough times for the foreseeable future, according to this Aloha Analytics blog posting. I asked Brad Parsons  how he obtained this data. He apparently spoke to people at some hotels on Maui and Kauai. The advance bookings at these hotels have been very poor thus far. This doesn’t bode very well at all for Hawaii’s economy recovery.

“Many hotels across the state have reservation bookings for January and February of 30% or less.”

The permit has been pulled to finish the former Circuit City location at Kona Commons.  Ross Dress For Less will be able to relocate when the construction is complete. This project should be done by the summer of 2010.

Lastly, these photographs are of the currently blocked Holu/Keokeo Street in Kona Coastview and the missing Holu Street roadway segment between Kona Highlands and Kona Wonderview. I’m going to do a full-court press to get the latter completed. It would benefit the residents of Kona Highlands, Wonderview, and Coastview if Holu Street was opened all the way to Kaiminani Drive.

Man our prayers are with you Aaron. We have been fighting these roads since 1988. They were actually dedicated to the county of Hawaii 1963. The lesson here is the County should REQUIRE all connector roads in a plan to be completed prior to giving a final permit. If these were done correctly we wouldn’t have the mess we are stuck with.
Roads like ski jumps are not good for speed bumps. Wait and see.
    Thanks for your help.

I just want to say that even visually… this road seems very awkward and I’ve never even driven on it! Nice Visual!
