I stumbled on this document on the CFLHD website. The CFLHD has decided the Kona side phase of the Saddle Road improvement project will use the W-7 alignment. This new segment of Saddle Road will intersect with Mamalahoa Highway at m.m 14 (about 3 miles south of the Waikoloa Junction).

The future channelized intersection above the Hualalai Vistas subdivision is undergoing a re-design. This due to concerns raised by the surrounding homeowners. The constant vibration from the hoe-ramming the rock facing was causing damage to the surrounding homes.
The county has completed resurfacing Saddle Road from m.m 44 to m.m 48.5. However, they still haven’t completed the shoulder work or the roadway striping yet.
Lastly, Hawaiian Telcom’s exit from bankruptcy protection is reaching its apex. It should be interesting to see if HawTel’s aging infrastructure will produce the desired financial results desired by the new investors who’ll own shares in this company.
