The Solicitation Of Bids To Construct The Initial UH West Hawaii Campus Roadway Has Been Placed On Hold

The solicitation of bids to construct the roadway accessing the future UH West Hawaii campus is on hold. The University of Hawaii has asked Governor Lingle to release an additional ten million dollars to cover the costs of improvements in Hilo and at Palamanui. In addition, they are asking for the governor’s permission to advertise these projects.

It appears the legislature is getting closer to temporarily raising the general excise tax. I firmly believe this will severely harm Hawaii economic recovery. The cost of everything will skyrocket since every business will have no choice but to pass along this tax increase.

I’ve noticed construction on the Ane Keohokalole Highway is visible from Queen Kaahumanu Highway and Keanalehu Street. CTS Earthmoving has started to grub below Kealakehe High School. In addition, there are visible orange markers to the south where this future roadway will be constructed.

The future of Japan Airline’s Tokyo to Kona flight may be revealed next week.

The Thirty Meter Telescope proposed for Mauna Kea jumped another hurdle on Wednesday. The Mauna Kea Management Board recommended the UH Chancellor approve the TMT’s FEIS.

Lastly, this reader comment really frustrated me.

“Oops, you forgot to disclose your Hawaiian Tel conflict of interest, Aaron. A person as “principled” as yourself should know that EVERY TIME that you write about HT a disclosure is in order. Even if you’re writing a post critical of HT, your readers (including those who may not have read or may never read another post) should be told again whenever that topic is discussed.”

I don’t see the point of disclosing this conflict of interest every time I blog about Hawaiian Telcom. It would be a different story if I was boasting how great their service is. However, the record will show I’ve been very critical of them.

I was initially instructed to not disclose that I was getting free DSL service. However, the only reason I recently  disclosed this possible conflict of interest was to protect my credibility. I was afraid this person would let the cat out the bag. However, it was all for naught because Damon Tucker used this old news to retaliate against me.

Nevertheless, now I don’t have to record my daily speed test results and submit them every week to Hawaiian Telcom .
