I believe we still have a long way to go before West Hawaii’s real estate normalizes. The latter won’t happen until the amount of foreclosed homes decreases.
Forest City’s agreement with the HHFDC apparently allows them to build a biomass power plant in the middle of the proposed Kamakana Villages project. I’m very angry that Mr. Randle never mentioned this possibility during our recent meeting. So, I felt very blindsided after I read this article today.
I drove up to Waimea on Saturday to check out the Parker Ranch Connector Road and the widening of Mamalahoa Highway between NHCH and m.m 56. Both projects have turned out great. I was particularly amazed how much progress Goodfellow Brothers made on the widening of Mamalahoa Highway since early October.

The potential sale of an abandoned county road easement in Ka’u is deeply troubling. This may encourage the county to sell other abandoned roadway easements island wide. The latter would set a horrible precedent for future generations.
Lastly, I checked the latest status of Hawaii County’s lawsuit against American Motorist Insurance Company and 1250 Oceanside Partners. The last two court filings were removed since I last checked November 11, 2010. American Motorist Insurance Company previously filed a motion to dismiss the county’s lawsuit on November 9, 2010.
However, Hawaii County’s motion compelling American Motorist to comply with their bonding obligations is slated to be heard on November 30, 2010 in Judge Ibarra’s courtroom at 8am.

I drove the new Parker Ranch road today. It’s quite nice and a new perspective for viewing. I’m not sure it shaved much time off the usual route. I drove it comfortably at 45mph though the limit is a not-useful 25mph. Waimea police will make some money off this road.
