I’ve tried to e-mail Go Daddy regarding an issue with a particular website. They won’t help unless they receive a Court issued subpoena. I can’t afford to hire an attorney. So, my options are pretty limited. I’m leaning towards waiting for the domain registration to expire and attempt to buy the domain then.
The individual (or individuals) who did this obviously have an axe to grind. However, they’d rather drag my reputation into the mud instead of challenging me head on. For example, they took a photograph of me working, but avoided confronting me at the same time. This shows he/she lack balls and any maturity whatsoever.
I encourage whoever is behind this website to drop me an e-mail explaining why they did this to me.

Sorry, Aaron, I don’t think you’re likely to prevail, but I’m not a lawyer.
However, Jeff Portnoy is probably the best media lawyer in Hawaii and maybe he would be interested if you explain to him the work you’ve done here in the past and the impact of this domain name squatter. Or, if Portnoy declines, there is Lance Collins of Maui who might be interested your case. Worst case, maybe one of them can offer you some free advice, a referral to a pro bono lawyer, or an explanation of how to proceed pro se.
By the way, you’d have a much stronger argument if you were blogging using your name as your url (like Damon does).

It’s clear they _intend_ to intimidate you, but as far as the content goes, there’s nothing that is derogatory. Don’t give them the satisfaction of seeing you irritated. If you keep making noise about it, they’ll probably try to extort money from you for the domain transfer.
On the other hand, have you tried emailing the domainsbyproxy Admin contact? It’s possible that there is some kind of Terms of Service thing they’re violating (but I doubt it).

Larry,
I wanted to provide an update regarding this fiasco. However, this is the last time I’ll blog about this renegade site. I don’t want to waste anymore time on this.
By the way, I tried e-mailing the address you cited. They never responded.

Whoever is doing this is pretty lame, hiding behind a private domain registration to go after you anonymously. I don’t remember you stating where you work. Most companies now have employee rules that require a blogging employee not mention where they work or aspects about the job — it is unfortunate that this person has decided to reveal this as this can potentially affect your relationship with your employer and ultimately, your income.
However, I might never had known about that site without you mentioning it. I bookmark your site, Aaron, not the other one. My advise to you is to monitor and otherwise ignore.

I follow your blog from Oahu, as a student pursuing planning and sustainability. What you’re doing is exactly what Kona needs. Hang in there- and keep up the great work!

Robyn,
Mahalo for the kind comment regarding all my hard work. I really do appreciate it a lot.
This feeble attempt to sully my reputation actually has strengthened my resolve to maintain this blog.

Your new site AaronStene.com Rocks! So much easier to tell someone that then to try and explain the wordpress thing at the end!
