Road and Highway Builders LLC completed a successful test pave on Saddle Road yesterday. Full scale paving between m.m 16-19 will hopefully begin late next week.
Tiffany Edwards Hunt did a great job cleaning up the vehicular trash at the intersection of Pahoa Village Road and Highway 130. However, why is a private citizen is doing a job which the HDOT or the Hawaii County DPW should’ve been doing?
I have to make a tough choice between Jim Rath and Angel Pilago for county council. Mr. Rath has successfully obtained funding for Kona side projects in the past. However, I wonder if he can work with other council members.
On the other hand, Mr. Pilago has shown the ability to work with others for the betterment of the island. Nevertheless, he failed to obtain sufficient funding for Kona side projects during his term. So, I’m not sure who’ll receive my vote at this time.

True North Asia and Capital Asia Group organized a meeting regarding The Villages at Aina Le’a project. Robert Wessels, managing partner of DW Aina Le’a Development LLC has apparently amended the time frame for a return on investment on this project.
“It was really a good news when Robert shared that he has a new exit strategy for this investment. Initially I was informed that I need 30 months to realise my returns of 30% on the project. Looking at the progress of the partners in Big Island, I now need less than 30 months to make money from this Land Development Project.”
This amendment simply makes the project look like a scam even more. I highly doubt these investors will ever realize such high rates of return. The West Hawaii real estate market remains weak. There still too many foreclosed homes on the market to make this project viable.
Relco Corporation‘s 2010 state business registration renewal was rejected on August 23rd, 2010. Relco Corporation is the parent company of DW Aina Le’a Development LLC.
Lastly, I wonder if it’s possible to compile how many local employees (versus off island) work up on the Mauna Kea telescopes. This argument has come up time and time again by the anti- Mauna Kea astronomy opponents.
